Our Story

SailKeeper was born from my personal need to keep track of things on my boat. Anyone who owns a boat knows that, like me, maintaining an inventory is not so simple. I used an Excel spreadsheet to inventory parts, tools, and even where I stored food in the galley. Every time I needed to open the spreadsheet it was very annoying. Then I started tracking my trips and miles and also reporting what happened during the voyage. I liked using a paper logbook, but it wasn't practical at all.

Another thing I missed was a checklist, because every time I left the marina and left the boat for a few weeks I always forgot to turn something off or close a hatch. And keeping receipts for things I bought for warranty also got lost on the boat.

In the midst of so many things, I started looking for a system where I could have all this in one place and accessible from my phone. Since I'm in technology, I decided to start developing a system for personal use and shared it with some sailor friends, who shared it with other friends, and when I realized it, we were already more than 500 people using the system almost daily and for free.

SailKeeper has become a solution for boat owners, for companies that manage multiple boats, sailing schools, and charter companies. In a single system you have everything recorded, with easy access and with various resources for efficient fleet management.
